In my painting 'Byzantion,' I pay tribute to Istanbul, portraying the timeless icon of Hagia Sophia on the right. Mountains create a majestic backdrop, showcasing the city amidst nature. The canvas captures reflections of the ancient city, with water mirroring minarets and mountains. 

Starting with a charcoal sketch, the work comes to life as layers of acrylic paint blend in a vibrant symphony, reflecting Byzantion’s diversity. Detailed vibrancy emerges with acrylic paints and oil pastels, encapsulating the city's essence.

In mijn schilderij 'Byzantion' breng ik een eerbetoon aan Istanbul, met een tijdloze weergave van de Hagia Sophia aan de rechterkant. Bergen vormen een majestueuze achtergrond en tonen de stad te midden van de natuur. Het doek vangt reflecties van de oude stad, waar water zowel de mystiek van minaretten als bergen weerspiegelt. 

Beginnend met een houtskoolschets komt het werk tot leven als lagen acrylverf samensmelten in een levendige symfonie, een weerspiegeling van de diversiteit van ’Byzantion’..

Gedetailleerde levendigheid komt tot uiting met acrylverf en oliepastels, waarbij de essentie van de stad wordt gevat.
